🇲🇽 Why Cancún?

Cancún is one of the most visited destinations in the world. The Caribbean water is an impossible shade of turquoise, the all-inclusive resort scene is world-class, and the day trips are incredible. Only 2 hours from Houston.

📍 Hotel Zone vs Downtown

The Hotel Zone is the 14-mile beachfront resort strip — stunning beaches but pricey. Downtown Cancún (El Centro) is where the real culture lives — authentic taquerías, local markets, and prices a fraction of the Hotel Zone. Do both.

🏊 Cenotes: The Crown Jewel

Cenotes are natural sinkholes filled with crystal-clear groundwater, unique to Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. Swimming in one is magical — imagine a hidden underground cavern with impossibly clear water. Ik Kil, Dos Ojos, and Gran Cenote are all must-visits.

🏛️ Chichen Itza Day Trip

One of the Seven Wonders of the World is 3 hours from Cancún. The Mayan city of Chichen Itza and its iconic El Castillo pyramid is one of the most impressive structures on earth. Book a tour that includes a cenote stop.

🌙 Nightlife

Coco Bongo is the iconic Cancún party experience — part club, part circus, all chaos. Mandala Beach Club and The City are also Hotel Zone staples.

🍜 Real Mexican Food

The best food is NOT at the resort. Get downtown and find taquerías serving al pastor, birria, cochinita pibil, and fresh ceviche. Mercado 28 has great local food at affordable prices.

📘 Entry Requirements

US citizens do not need a visa for Mexico. You'll receive a tourist card on arrival. Cancún International Airport (CUN) has direct flights from Houston — about 2 hours.
